Request: When She Smiles

Just to escape the harsh reality of the situation, we stumble upon a beach. I never thought this side of the town had one. Nauki immediately whipped past me and started removing articles of clothing before settling with her skirt and skin-tight one-piece. As I watched her sit on her knees, the sun began to rise behind me. It started to illuminate everything in its wake as I made my way toward her, ditching my armour and sticking to a pair of shorts I usually keep for warmer days. I could already feel the warmth of the glowing star behind me, the sudden feeling gave me goosebumps. However, all of that was washed away with the waves as soon as Nauki turned her head to face me; a smile fixated on her cute features, stunning aqua-coloured eyes and ocean blue hair that glimmered in the sunlight. I could have sworn I was staring at a goddess...

I felt my face flush a soft pink. My slightly pale skin didn't help cover it up either as her small grin grew into an innocent smile as she pointed to the sand castle she sculpted. I blinked, thinking about how fast it took her to build it but it was probably because I was... slightly distracted. "Well, it's not the palace we imagined all those years but I think I got the gist of it, don't you think?" She said. I didn't respond, I was still speechless.

"Hello? Earth to Iron, you in there?" she called out to me, snapping me out of my trance. "Um... yeah. It's pretty good." I managed to say.

"Pretty good? Geez, you really hate it huh?"

"N-No. It's fine." I turned my head away to escape locking with her vibrant eyes.

"Hey, if you're just going to stand there and block my sun you might as well come over here and take a load off. I think you need rest way more than I do." She snarked, giving another sincere smile. I couldn't help but oblige as I sat down with her. She was right, too; I was pretty damned tired from all the walking. I guess one small break won't hurt.

"You know..." She started, I turned to face her. "I'm glad I finally get to sit down and have an actual conversation with you for once without some psycho trying to kill us."

I gave a small chuckle along with a grin of my own. "You think so? I kind of liked getting chased around. It makes these conversations disappear."

Nauki punched my shoulder and gave me a teasing look. "Well maybe I should just leave you the next time you get caught in another trap..."

"Oh no, what ever would I do without you?" I joked patting my sword.

"That won't always protect you, you know. Besides, I think I'm better than any piece of steel."

Without even thinking, I blurted "Yeah, you're definitely something I can't afford to lose.". Nauki's face lit up a vibrant shade of red. "W-Well... yeah! And don't you forget it." She punched my shoulder again, to which I returned with a light jab of my own to hers, laughing with her to ease the tension.

We both became silent not too long before Nauki spoke again. "You're something I don't want to lose either. So no matter what, I got your back just like you have mine. Whoever thinks they know otherwise can try."

I smiled, Nauki was always devoted and trustworthy. She proved she could handle her own and I can safely say that I trust her with my life given any risk. She truly is a great friend...

Ah Nauki, a character of 's that I always wanted to try. Even challenging another pose different to what I normally do. It certainly won't be the last.

Though I don't know the backstory to her character I can sense this sense of a strong, caring woman who can hold her own. And I feel that in her times fighting along 's character Iron Heart will strengthen a powerful bond between the two. Are they just good friends? Most likely. A budding relationship? Not my call. But surely it will be interesting to see Nauki and Iron in action when the story is out.
